29-10-2014 Production for our wind turbines is fully under way. In mid-October the foundation for the first turbine, known as the monopile, was delivered. Our manufacturer in Roermond shipped the monopile to Vlissingen via inland waterways for coating and storage. Three to four monopiles will be supplied every week from now on. A total of 48 monopiles will be needed for the Westermeerwind Wind Farm.

The monopile is a steel tubular pile measuring approximately 38 metres long and weighing some 244 tonnes. A large section of the monopile (+/- 29 metres) is driven into the ground. Once the pile is at the right depth, the tower sections are placed on top of the pile. This is followed by the wind turbine.

We’ve made a start, just 47 more monopiles to go!
