Westermeerwind B.V. has outsourced the construction supervision and management of the Westermeerwind Wind Farm to Ventolines. As main contractor, Siemens is building the Westermeerwind Wind Farm, and will maintain it for a period of at least fifteen years. Special installation techniques and transports
For the installation of a wind farm in the IJsselmeer, no large offshore transport and installation vessels may be used, because they simply cannot enter the IJsselmeer. Furthermore, the water depth is too limited for the large draughts of maritime vessels. For this reason, special pontoons were designed and built for the construction work: a pontoon with large cable drums and installation equipment for the installation of cables, and a pontoon with an enormous land crane for installing the turbines.
