29-10-2014 Production for our wind turbines is fully under way. In mid-October the foundation for the first turbine, known as the monopile, was delivered. Our manufacturer in Roermond shipped the monopile to Vlissingen via inland waterways for coating and storage. Three to four monopiles will be supplied every week from now on. Over 80 companies from Noordoostpolder, Urk and Lemsterland attended the Westermeerwind Wind Farm meeting on 20 March at Concern voor Werk in Emmeloord. Preparations for the construction of the wind farm in the waters of the IJsselmeer have begun. In consultation with the business associations and Westermeerwind, Siemens – the company appointed by Westermeerwind to construct the wind farm – and its subcontractors invited targeted regional businesses to explain the farm and maintenance of the wind farm. Residents of Noordoostpolder, Urk and Lemsterland will given the chance to acquire shares as well as bonds in the Westermeerwind Wind Farm that is due for completion in 2016. The decision was taken by the initiators following in-depth research among the population and following consultation with the municipality of Noordoostpolder and the banks, among others. Siemens is to provide turnkey construction of the offshore part of the Noordoostpolder Wind Farm. To this end, Westermeerwind today signed an agreement (Conditional Contract) with an investment value in the hundreds of millions of euros. A total of 48 wind turbines each with a capacity of 3 MW will be constructed in three rows at 500 and 1100 metres in the waters along the dikes of the Noordoostpolder. A transformer substation will also be supplied to Westermeerdijk. Siemens will continue to maintain the wind farm for a period of 15 years following handover. Representatives of Westermeerwind Boskalis Nederland put their signatures to the contract on 4 April 2012. Westermeerwind has appointed Boskalis Nederland to construct a guided dam for shipping in the IJsselmeer by the Rotterdamse Hoek in the North-East Polder. The dam will have a length of 1,100 metres with a shallow onshore sheltered zone. Once construction of the dam is complete, Westermeerwind will build 48 wind turbines in the water. Following cabinet consultation, the Ministers of Economic Affairs, Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Agriculture and Transport, Public Works and Water Management ruled on 12 May 2006 that the Government projects procedure is applicable to wind energy in Noordoostpolder.
