Over 80 companies from Noordoostpolder, Urk and Lemsterland attended the Westermeerwind Wind Farm meeting on 20 March at Concern voor Werk in Emmeloord. Preparations for the construction of the wind farm in the waters of the IJsselmeer have begun. In consultation with the business associations and Westermeerwind, Siemens – the company appointed by Westermeerwind to construct the wind farm – and its subcontractors invited targeted regional businesses to explain the farm and maintenance of the wind farm.

Westermeerwind Wind Farm
Westermeerwind Wind Farm is being developed in the waters of the IJsselmeer along the dikes of the Noordoostpolder in one of the windiest locations in the Netherlands. The wind park will comprise 48 wind turbines each with a capacity of 3MW arranged in two rows along the Westermeer dike and one row along the Noordermeer dike plus an onshore transformer substation. The Westermeerwind Wind Farm is the near shore section of the Noordoostpolder Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in the Netherlands.
